Geriatric Medicine

This rotation will provide the resident with a 
  broad practical experience dealing with elderly  patients and will include experience in both  in-patient and out-patient settings. There will be  an opportunity to rotate through the Geriatric  Evaluation Management Unit (GEM) and Inpatient  Consultation and participate in outpatient  clinics. Other experiences may include home visits,  nursing home visits and assessment of inpatients  on the Geriatric Restorative Care Unit ( GRU)  and the Cognitive Assessment and Management
  Unit (CAM). This will provide the resident  with an experience in the interdisciplinary care
  of elderly patients with multiple problems, as  well as rehabilitation needs. You will acquire  assessment and management skills as they relate  to comprehensive geriatric assessment, managing  medications in the elderly and rehabilitation of  the elderly patient.
  
A rotation in Geriatric Medicine will provide  an excellent opportunity for any resident to work
  with evaluation and management of elderly 
  individuals in conjunction with Geriatricians,
  Family Physicians, allied Health professionals  and other residents. This one month elective  is offered to medical students and residents in  Family Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery
